CIVIL IN A WORLDWIDE ACTION FOR A SOCIETY WITHOUT BORDERS

With a public presentation that will be held at the city square in Gostivar tomorrow (April 20, 2017), starting at 12:00 noon, CIVIL – Center for Freedom will launch its newest project “Society Without Borders”, which will be implemented with the support of the German Heinrich Böll Foundation. The main goal of the action is promoting and educating the citizens of Macedonia about the Citizen’s Charter, a global document on improving civil rights and active participation of citizens in the decision-making process.

The Charter represents a new step of civil society worldwide, which was launched last year at the World conference on global perspectives held in Berlin, at the initiative of the International Civil Society Center and several renowned world civil society organizations. CIVIL was one of the first 50 organizations – signatories to this Charter worldwide, and will be the carrier of promotional and educational activities for the Charter in our country.

At tomorrow’s event on the Gostivar square, a detailed presentation will be organized on all the activities related to the Citizen’s Charter worldwide and at the national level. Citizens will have the opportunity to receive informational and educational materials, as well as to join the support for the Charter, by signing a statement of support or by participating in a photo and video petition, which is the first of its kind, with which CIVIL for the first time will introduce this format of support worldwide.

In addition, CIVIL’s team will carry out a series of meetings with prominent activists and organizations from this region, on developing mutual cooperation and giving support to citizen activism in the spirit of the Charter.

CIVIL will hold such a multimedia event next week in Veles, and after that in the course of the following three weeks there will be meetings also with the citizens in Stip, Kavadarci, Struga, Tetovo, Bitola, Ohrid and Skopje.

During the entire period, all those who are interested in taking part in the activities for support to the Citizen’s Charter at the national level and worldwide, will have the opportunity to be informed and gain new knowledge, acquaintances, contacts and opportunities for cooperation through the contents of CIVIL’s media channels.
