artanArtan Sadiku, human rights activist, director of the Institute for Humanistic and Social Sciences Skopje, was attacked last night by a group of hooligans in the center of Skopje. In the short conversation with him, we learn that he was attacked and beaten up by 6-7 persons. He was insulted and beaten up, after which he lost his consciousness. His phone was taken away. He was taken to the hospital for treatment from injuries until 6 am today.

Civil has reasons to believe that this attack is politically motivated, having in mind how outspoken human rights activist is Artan Sadiku. We appeal to the authorities to take immediate measures to find prosecute the attackers. We appeal to the political party whose followers this group of hooligans might be, to take immediate steps towards control of these groups. We appeal to political and public figures to condemn this and other attacks, to call for swift action to tackle hate crime and hate speech.
