THE STATE SUPPORTS THE GUN CULTURE

Civil - Center for Freedom strongly condemns the promotion of the gun culture by an important government institution - the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Macedonia. During the celebration of the anniversary and the day of the Army last week,weapons were made available to children and youth.

We believe that the very exhibition of weapons is worrying, not to speak that the availability of weapons to children and youth at this event is scandalous and unacceptable.

In times when Macedonia supports the arms control process and overcoming of gun culture, the behavior of this Ministry and the Army reveals that these efforts are only declaratory.

We believe that there are many different ways to promote the Army of the Republic of Macedonia to all age groups in the country, but if there are ways that cannot be allowed, it is exactly the way it was done at this event.

We appeal to the Ministry of Defense and all relevant institutions of the state to stop such practices for the benefit of future generations.

We appeal to parents to keep their children away from guns. In future, when institutions forget this, parents are those who have to be conscientious and avoid bringing their children to such events.
